Who I Am

MSK Physiotherapist

About me:Gabriel Couto de Oliveira Portrait

My name is Gabriel Couto de Oliveira. I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2021 with a 2nd class honours degree in Physiotherapy and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Since then, I’ve been working as a physiotherapist, gaining experience across different specialties through a two-year rotational program.

Over time, I’ve focused more on musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and general rehabilitation, building on my training and hands-on experience. Currently, I work with the NHS as part of the Pathway 3 team, where I support people with complex needs, including cognitive impairment.

My role involves helping patients and their families navigate the best discharge options, whether that’s returning home with a package of care or transitioning to a nursing placement. In addition to my physiotherapy degree, I hold a Level 2 Gym-Based Fitness Instructor Award and a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Massage.

I’ve also completed training in K-Laser therapy, which allows me to incorporate advanced treatment options into my practice. My approach to physiotherapy is a mix of hands-on techniques, functional movement, and education. I believe in giving people the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their recovery and manage their condition independently. My goal is to help people feel stronger, more confident, and empowered in their movement. I’m fluent in Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and English, which helps me connect with a diverse range of patients.

Outside of physiotherapy, I have a passion for dance and regularly practice salsa and bachata.
